Studio Week

With several art prizes, and an arts festival advertising deadline, we've been busy in the studio with art reproduction, including lots of 3D work. Reproducing three dimensional work involves a much different set up than flat images. A repro of a painting or drawing is purely technical - no room for deviation. Three dimensional work however, requires a bit more artistic endeavour. You're sculpting the image with light, and how you light different materials really matter. Jewellery is probably the trickiest - it's shiny and reflective and small. Still, this is my favourite kind of work. In this case, I didn't want the pieces to look like they were straight from a commercial jewellers catalogue, and neither did the client; instead we were aiming for something ethereal, floating in a black void.
